Why I will not be leaving KU...
Stay with me here...
My readers are important to me. And I know that trying a new to you author, or an author who hasn't published a ton of books, figures into your reading budget. Kindle Unlimited affords readers a cost effective way to try authors they may not have if they had to purchase a book.
Likewise, maybe you love an author and want to read ALLLLLL their books. And if you did that outside of KU, you'd be spending more than you maybe could.
And if that author was wide in ANY of the above situations you wouldn't have read them.
At all.
I'm a KU subscriber. I have a limited budget that I push the limits of constantly. Finding indies in bookstores is hard. Buying ebooks isn't always easy for me, either.
I'm you.
But as an author, do I make more on an ebook purchase or a physical book purchase?
As my youngest kiddo would say, DUH.
But...what I make in KU for page reads has never been insanely high. I'm building an audience. That's how I see KU. Readers find me. And they want to read alllllll the books. Or they need to stretch their budget as much as possible.
This month, am I making less in page reads? Sure. But, I'm building an audience and having my books accessible to more readers.
I also know there are readers who read in KU, and love a book so much, they buy that book in another format. (IT'S ME. And maybe you.)
Wide is not feasible, nor do I want to make it so readers can't afford my books.
And, KU gives me the opportunity to run promos on my books for non KU subscribers each quarter.
I won't be pulling my books anytime soon, if ever.
So, read wherever you read.
Review.
Tell your friends and make their TBRs weep with jot at how, ahem, big they are getting.
And know that KU is where you can find me not just as an author, but as a reader 🙌❤️🙌
